Stage A Actions

Stage A Stewards like yourself are typically in the early stages of their adaptation journey. The Action Journey for this Stage guides you to build climate and heritage literacy, strengthen the capacity of your group or network, raise awareness around adaptation in your community, and begin to engage relevant stakeholders and rights holders.

The list of actions you find here are key outcomes guided by this Action Journey. Completion of all of them indicates that you are ready to advance to Stage B, where you will lead a community-driven climate risk assessment and develop an adaptation plan or strategy.

Mark off actions as you complete them in the real world, to keep track of your progress.

Ready to advance to Stage B?

You can self select to advance to Stage B at any time. We reccommend working through the guided action journey, and making sure you've completed all the action first.

Stage B Stewards typically already have foundational knowledge about heritage and climate change but have not yet undertaken a locally led climate risk assessment. They may have implemented successful disaster risk reduction or sustainability initiatives, but have not yet designed a comprehensive climate adaptation strategy.

Congratulations! You're ready to enroll in Stage B.

In Stage B, you will focus on designing and implementing a locally led risk assessment for your site or practice, incorporating plural knowledge-based approaches, undertaking initial adaptation planning based on the risk assessment, and working to increase alignment with other local/regional adaptation plans.
