Scientific support for energy and environmental improvement of built heritage

The Built Heritage innovation Lab (BHiLab) of ISPC, Europa Nostra Award winner in 2009, is a forerunner in the energy and environmental improvement of built heritage since 2007, with IEE SECHURBA project, followed by ENICBCMed BEEP, PRIN2022 BEACON and Interreg NEXTMED SHAREN. BHiLab has developed cutting-edge know-how on historical building diagnostics, information management and simulation-based decision support of design solutions, establishing a common framework among disciplines and fostering technological transfer. The guideline “Methodology for the Energy Renovation of Heritage Buildings using BIM” describes BHiLab workflow in detail. BhiLab can deploy and offer consultancy and training on geometric survey (also SLAM and drone-based), energy and environmental analyses (thermography also drone-based, heat flux measurements, indoor environmental monitoring), Heritage BIM, Heritage building performance simulations, interoperability and development of design of solutions.
